What I Brought On My Trip

Clothing
Clothing

I brought the clothing that you see above, with the addition of a zipper hoodie that I mainly wore on my flights, and a thin wind breaker that I never wore. I had a travel vest as well, but I consider that more of luggage or accessory than clothing, even though I wore it everywhere I went...and I really do mean everywhere, even when it was over 40 °C.

Starting from the top left, there are two thin pairs of drawstring pants with pockets...I wore one pair on the plane and had the other as backup. They were thin enough that they could be worn when it was warm (not hot) and also on the plane. One pair stayed in my backpack and the other was in my stuffable neck pillow so I could change in and out of them easily. The rest of the top row was two bras, two pair of ankle socks (never worn), two pair of taller socks (never worn) and a pair of Dr. Scholls compression socks (worn on every flight), and finally 7 pair of underwear (which I was able to wash and dry overnight, so I always had a fresh pair).

The second row is comprised of the majority of the clothing that I wore on my trip. Three pairs of drawstring shorts with pockets...two also had a back pocket which I rarely used. Two ultra thin long sleeved shirts and a thicker 3/4 length shirt (I didn't technically need them all, but I wore at least two of them...one of which also stayed in my travel pillow). Next was three tank tops and three T-shirts...these were worn and re-worn on most of my travel days, depending on how hot it was. One of my tank tops and all of my T-shirts came from my favourite store in Ucluelet, BC - Image West.

The bottom row starts with my favourite waffle-weave hoodies. I ALWAYS wear these hoodies when I am travelling. When it is hot, I wear it tied around my waist, which also makes it harder for a pickpocket to get something out of my shorts' pockets. When it is cooler, I wear it as a 'sweater'...one always stayed in my travel pillow, just in case...I got these at Wal-Mart in the early 2000's and have been wearing them ever since. Next was a scarf that I could wear as a head scarf for the temples/mosques that I planned on visiting. Under the scarf, is an ultra thin pair of pants. I bought them in the Philippines back in 2015 and found them great for pajama bottoms and also a backup, if I needed something to cover my legs when I visited mosques/temples as my other long pants were too heavy for a very hot day. Thankfully I ended up getting a pair of pants in Istanbul that I was able to use for visiting the mosques.

When it came to footwear, I wore a pair and brought an additional pair. I had a pair of flip flops with good tread, I wear these shoes everywhere, every day, in my normal life and buy several pairs at a time, so that I always have a back up pair. For almost a decade, my go to flip flops were from Columbia Sportswear, but they stopped making ones with good tread. I do have two pair of never-used Columbia sandals, but I prefer being able to just slide my feet into my shoes. A year before this trip, I had to look elsewhere for my flip flops...my husband found some that were almost identical on Temu and bought me two pair. I broke in my first pair, the summer before I left on this trip and they were the just as good as the Columbias had been. My backup shoes were a pair of mesh runners, that also had good tread...also from Temu. I wore them the prior year when I was in Asia and my feet swelled up a bit and couldn't easily fit into my flip flops. I knew they would be a good backup option if the compression socks didn't do their job...I never wore them.
